INTJ and Alexithymia

Has anyone else done a personality test based on the Meyers-Briggs scaffold? I got INTJ as my result, did anyone else get a similar 'code'?

Thanks (:

I've tested as INTJ for a long time, though not strongly on J/P. I only today found the Alexi test, which says I have such traits. I'm a bit surprised I didn't test higher on it.

I'm an intp (which is quite close to intj). I was also wondering if the personality types could be related to alexithymia (i.e. if certain types are more susceptible), especially because for my type the "feeling" aspect is supposed to be the least developed.

INTJ every time. Here is the mostly detailed breakdown of the tests I have taken.

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (78%)
You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (12%)
You have strong preference of Thinking over Feeling (88%)
You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (22%)

I always get INTP, wavering close to INTJ. However, I've always found the descriptions of INTP to fit me perfectly, unlike the INTJ.

I too have personality test result of INTJ, and maybe INTP at times. It felt like never in my life I can be anything else, cause what people says personality do change over the years, but definitely not for me.

I'm an INTP. Originally tested as INTJ but as I learned more about the actual functions of the test and researched more into the different personality types, a few months after my initial attempt at the test with me being more honest I received INTP as a result. That suits me better than anything and I agree 100 percent.

Both INTJ and INTP are described as emotionally distant. INTJs a little less so, as they're usually just blunt and systematic. INTPs have Fe (extraverted feeling) as their weakest function so it's understandable that a few of us would relate with Alexithymia. (Just as many people in the INTJ and INTP categories have at one point questioned whether they were a sociopath due to the 'lack of emotion', until they learned more.)

INTJ preferences here, and just back from an in-office quiz with my psych, at this site, revealing Alexithymia traits .
It was something of a relief to learn, in so far as putting a name to state-of-mind. Or; possibly, a stage of development.

The new research trials on psilocybin therapy at Johns Hopkins for terminal patients suggests that cosmic and emotional orientation for those who are faced with immanent mortality, or are otherwise emotionally stuck, may be relatively accessible. The research of Prof. Stanislav Grof, for instance. The few clinical trials that I have read about used a treatment structure of three psychotherapy counselling sessions, one psilocybin treatment, two more counselling sessions, another psilocybin treatment followed by three more counselling sessions.

There are quite a few video lectures on this wellness research.

Guess I'm a little different in that I have a Weak E but I am an ENTJ, although the NTJ are extremely strong. I got a 161 on the Alexi test. It's like I have two halts of a personality. In my real life I am much more an INTJ, but when it comes to business I lead and strive for success. I control situations. I don't know if that is unique but now that I am single and older I really enjoy being alone and away from people.

I got INTJ, it's decently accurate too, and scored 141 on alexi test.

You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (50%)
You have strong preference of Thinking over Feeling (88%)
You have strong preference of Judging over Perceiving (78%)"

Yes, I tested INTJ. Sometimes I get ENTJ, but always I have at least had the TNJ part.

I was surprised to find the E instead of I, but that can probably be explained by my being a teacher for the past 40 years, which has changed the original introverted me into a more extroverted person. I certainly remember having periods of my life where I was very introverted, but less so now. Remember that our environment is a large determinant in our personality so nothing is fixed in concrete. Change your environment, get out of your comfort zone, and you'll change.

This is simply amazing. I have always tested INTJ but I never made any connection with not feeling emotions. There is much to learn but at least I know that others have this same experience.

Heard about alexithymia for the first time today. I consistently test as an I(89%)N(50%)T(100%)J(65%)*. It boggled my mind that I got 100% for T, but I told a close friend and she said she could see that being the case. I'm also currently seeing a psychologist and taking sertraline for MDD, GAD, and OCD.

Could these issues be all tied together? Food for deep thought.

*These are approximations from my most recent attempt. I didn't memorize the percentages

Another very consistent intj here. Scored 137 on Alexi, which I imagine was moderated by the fact that I have high empathy for others.

Naming and feeling my feelings is a constant struggle.

I can identify with this. How can people just INSTANTLY KNOW how they feel and I come off like "no affect" then two weeks later I realize THERE WAS AN EFFECT! I am so freaking tired of this! However, I'm not willing to take drugs for this. Drugs can only lead to side effects.

Scored 166 on the alexi test and I've done the myers briggs a few times over the last 10-15 years and got INTJ every time.

Fascinating. Of course, I assume we're all referring to online assessments.

Good Morning,

I'm a researcher at King's College, in London, UK and am conducting a study into the personality traits of alexithymia.

If you're in or around London, it would be great to have you come into the lab. I can be reached at skgtag3@ucl.ac.uk if you're interested in participating in paid research.

Best,

I always associated these traits with my Myers-Briggs personality type – ISTP - Introverted Thinking and Extraverted Sensing. I always had a lot of trouble “fitting in” but doing the Myers-Briggs personality type assisted me to realise that it is just as valid to feel this way as it is for anyone else to feel the way that they do.
I - Draw energy from and pay attention to their inner world.
S - Like information that is real and factual.
T- Use logical analysis in decision making
P - Like a flexible, adaptable life.

My experience tells me that almost everyone I know who has the J or Justification trait fit into the micro-manager control freak category and are very much aware of their emotions - particularly the EJ combination. I can deal with this in a work situation but I avoid these people like the plague in social settings.

New guy here,
did the personality test 3 times (months apart) and i got INTJ/ INTP/ INTJ
got a score of 151 for the alexes test
Pretty confused about life . . Just out of curiosity, does anyone here have a tendency for suicidal thoughts?
My main reason was that life seems kind of meaningless as if there's nothing to look forward to.
I have seen a counselor when i was still in school last year thinking i had depression.
His diagnosis was that i wasn't depressed but he was pretty intrigued by my trend of thoughts.

Sometimes I'm INTJ, sometimes I'm ENTJ. Depends on my mood when I take the test.

I am so relieved to find others like me. I've always felt kinda crazy and recently learned more about my MB personality type, which is in fact INTJ. It's helped me understand myself so much more and Alexithymia has helped me undersand myself even further. Glad I'm not alone!

I'm was an ENTJ last time I was tested, but my E is very borderline. The description for INTJ also fits me fairly well and it will largely depend on my mood. My job actually requires me to be very sociable, so I guess it's pushed me that way a little.

What I noticed of the two people who posted their actual scores above was that they were both VERY high T over F. (Which I guess seems obvious). The first time I took the test I was 100% T. I've softened a little I guess, I am now on 92% T. I simply do not understand Fs. I'm okay with people who are moderate T or even borderline T/F, but if you get any further into F, you are an alien to me.

INTP but with some J tendencies, and I choose to cohabit with a misanthropic ESTP, who has a great many F tendencies and therefore admittedly requires my guidance.

If you're still curious, then yes, but for different reasons, and it's a long story. Although, to be fair, I certainly went through the "life is meaningless" thing.

Hello,

I have done a lot of research on Meyers Briggs because I think it is a great time waster but anyway from what I have seen, INTJs are best known out of all other 16 types to be emotionless and cold hearted. People dont see it as something we have trouble with, they just see it as us being mean. Tbh, I kind of them rather thinking about it like that because I hate people thinking Im weak.r Being an INTJ myself, I did a pole to see if anyone had Alexithymia and what their type was. The most answers came back with INTJ.

i think my Alexi is caused by nurture not by nature.
My nature is Empath without any clue about mine & others emotions.
i have been incessantly reading about Psychology since my early 20s , i think that lowered my Alexi score from highest to 144, i remember when i was younger i was EXTREME alexi.

I salute the entire Alexi community !

Alexithymia - emotional blindness - is a personal trait which affects roughly 10% of the population.

Alexithymia describes the difficulty of people to perceive and describe emotions of others and themselves. Most persons concerned are not aware about this deficit and usually they are just recognizing it in contact with others, especially close friends, within their family or their partner.

These pages should deliver additional information about Alexithymia and offer information for affected persons, relatives and generally interested people.
