Reseach into self-harm among people with alexithymia
2018-07-11
I am a PhD student at Middlesex University in London and I'm carrying out an interview study into the experience of self-harm among people with alexithymia. The study has been approved by Middlesex University Psychology Department's Ethics Committee. We are recruiting participants aged between 18 and 30 who have self-harmed within the past five years and who have difficulty identifying and describing their feelings. Interviews could take place in person or by Skype or phone.

If you think you might be interested and willing to take part, please follow this link (or paste into your browser) for more information:https://mdxl.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3TTC0q1MATPNw5T
You will be asked to fill in a short screening survey, after which you will be sent more information about the interview.

Thank you very much
Hilary Norman

Alexithymia - emotional blindness - is a personal trait which affects roughly 10% of the population.

Alexithymia describes the difficulty of people to perceive and describe emotions of others and themselves. Most persons concerned are not aware about this deficit and usually they are just recognizing it in contact with others, especially close friends, within their family or their partner.

These pages should deliver additional information about Alexithymia and offer information for affected persons, relatives and generally interested people.
