Emotional memory. EVERY person with alexithymia has issues with emotional memory. They can remember the past, but they can't remember how they felt in the past. True or false?
In other words, alexithymia, autism, and psycopathy are all linked to inability to remember past emotions. Accurate?

i find myself reflecting on past memories, and the way i perceive them now doesn't match up to the way i was actually feeling at the time (i used to keep an online blog). i can also recall past memories where i was happy or sad. so at least for me, i don't agree completely with the statement.
very interesting point though, unfortunately i can't think too hard about it as i find it quite confusing.
A person with Alexithymia doesn't have problems remembering past emotions at least not more than anyone else. It is just that if the person can remember some emotion they probably wouldn't be able to tell you what the emotion is called.
Also Autism has nothing whatsoever to do with emotions there is simply a large percentage of people with Autism who just so happen to have Alexithymia so people tend to associate Autistic people with traits of Alexithymia even though they are completely different from each other.
As far as I can tell Psychopaths have a limited ability to feel emotions. They can probably remember past emotions those emotions are simply more subtle than a normal person.
so Alexithymia and Psychopathy both have to do with emotions but neither has to do with memories.
Neither Alexithymia or Autism is linked to an inability to do anything they just add difficulties to life.
I am not aware of research that suggest correlation between autism or psychopathy and emotional memory. However, research does suggest a correlation between alexithymia and emotional memory. Specific example: alexithymia appears to adversely affect memory functioning for negative facial expressions (Donges & Suslow, 2015).

Firstly, does the poster equate emotions with values (morals)? ... otherwise why draw a correlation based on emotional forgetfulness in autism/alexithymia with psychopathic tendencies? Secondly, correlation does not imply causation.
...but I'm shocked that there are autistics who don't have Alexithymia. Maybe that 15% of Autistics that don't have Alexithymia (the figure I've heard) are psychopaths who lack social skills. Psychopaths have very little in the way of emotions, so they might score high on an Alexithymia test; it depends on how the test taker interprets the questions. In any case, if you have a problem understanding or feelings emotions, then you probably aren't going to have any memories of them.
