Is it possible to have a sudden onset of alexithymia? PTSD and alexithymia is it real or does the sudden onset of alexi-like symptoms just a signal, a sign of a marker of a deeper emotional issue?

I had it explained to me rather like sociopathy Vs psychopathy. It is generally accepted that many sociopaths are made, as in socialized by experiences into forming a certain trend in behaviour, whereas psychopaths are often born with a distinct neurological divergence.
The therapist in question told me that for alexithymics that are conditioned into this sort of emotional dampening, most commonly through traumatic experiences, the condition can be reversed and normal emotional makeup regained. This can be done via common psychotherapy treatments.
But for those born this way, and many commonly comorbid with autism being another in-born neurological difference, then there is no alteration to it.
If the symptoms were sudden onset, it seems likely it is due to a reaction to traumatic experience and thus, when the underlying trauma is corrected, the emotional equilibrium should reassert.
Note that I am not a psychiatrist - this is simply what I was told when I questioned the possibility of change myself, having been born this way.
